INTERNATIONAL POLITICS
INTRODUCTION
I've designed this page for two purposes. Firstly, to provide links and resources about countries other than Australia. Secondly, to get people thinking about the issues and organisations that have a bearing on the planet and its future.
I'm not necessarily advocating that readers take up an impassioned struggle against the injustices of pollution, hunger, political corruption and so on. But it does help to look beyond the satisfaction of our everyday needs to contemplate the long-term position of both ourselves and those around us. To consider the things that we are making, using and/or destroying. How does your lifestyle sit in relation to these things?
On the other hand, where do we draw the line between seeking equality and preserving the natural dignity and uniqueness of the other people of the world? And how do we justify our viewpoint in the face of their own opinions on the matter? I'll let readers come to their own conclusions over these questions.
CURRENT CONFLICTS
The world has drifted towards war - if not a sort of collective insanity - since the terrorist attack on the USA in September 2001. I prefer not to comment on it, since the issues are complex and it's too easy to put people off-side, either way. Two points are clear, however - the attack was unjustified; and it has nothing to do with religion (other than indicating its failure as a moral imperative).
